By the time my next blog comes out in November, we’re likely to have a fair bit of new folks suiting up for office: 35 Senate seats; the 435 seats in the House + Puerto Rico and I still feel funny PR doesn’t have a seat; and, 36 Governors. Regardless, John Wallner, a Libertarian congressional candidate back in 1992 said it best: “Politicians are like diapers…they should be changed often and for the same reason”.

As always, my opinion about whether you should vote RED or BLUE is not what matters – what’s important is you do vote and engage with the system making your voice heard. Here in Colorado we get a “Blue Book” with all the Propositions, Amendments and Offices up for grabs and I bet you have the same thing in your ‘hood. Take a minute or three and read it – be informed – and make democracy a tool.

Speaking of tools, interest rates are continuing to rise friends and I hate to say I told you so…so I won’t. But it’s important to note the Federal Reserve really only has the one hammer to nail inflation and this trend is almost certain to continue. The only way to be prepared is know how to borrow for your community, project and business. Take advantage of the market and shop carefully and weigh your options. If you’re a commercial borrower, 100% bonus depreciation looks like a 21% tax credit and if you’re a public official financing batteries for both resiliency and lowering your net cost per kWh, those §48E credits are yours for the asking with “Direct Pay”.
October 1 was the birthday of Jimmy Carter – the man who put solar thermal panels on the White House while John Keats in 1795 yet to write “Ode to a Nightingale” closed the month, along with a wonderful woman, on Halloween. As Al Jourgensen said: “Every day is Halloween”.
